DesignFixtures

Subtabs over one long page, and numbers over graphics – a deliberate contrast with the Matchups page this section pairs against.

The options

There were varying ways I could do this:

  1. 01Provide this all on one page, similar to the Matchups page.
  2. 02Have a layout that lays things out with subtabs.
  3. 03Have it as one long scrollable page.

I also needed to decide whether I’d go down a similar graphic-led design – something interactive and engaging for users – or one that was more numbers-focused, showing the statistics exactly as they are.

What I chose, and why

I decided to go down the route of subtabs, with lower graphic intensity and just displaying numbers as they are. I decided this was the best direction because there is a lot of statistics to fetch and show, and with it being less prediction-based – i.e. representing a true historical statistic fetch – it was important that this page represented that. With so much information to show, I felt that subtabs were the best direction to avoid overloading the user, causing them to get lost in a sea of metrics when they may be looking for something more specific rather than the general overviews Matchups provides.

Subtabs
The Fixtures page is split into four sub-views rather than one long scroll, chosen because the volume of historical statistics would otherwise bury whatever the reader came looking for.
