The record behind the metric

Head-to-head is where the user can see the specific context behind the H2H metric on the Matchup page. It shows how many wins, draws, or losses there are for the selected team against another selected team. This exposes unusual patterns – for example, Man City have won every single meeting with Fulham in the last 8 games despite being a relatively underestimated mid-table team, meanwhile Man City have also lost both games against Aston Villa last season, and have failed to end a match with three points against Brighton, both home and away, for three years running.

What it feeds

In addition to being able to spot patterns – such as Liverpool having their highest win rate against a pretty decently sided Newcastle – you can also see the average number of goals that occur during their matchups, contributing to how valuable players are in the Ranker tab by their predicted points, as well as giving the user open-interpretation data on how they can leverage this for their FPL decisions.

Head-to-head
The real cross-season record between two clubs. Deliberately capped at a 0.1 weight – testing showed anything larger made predictions worse, because a rivalry from three managers ago is weak evidence.
